What high school did you attend?
Walton High School
Why did you choose Georgia Southern?
I chose to become a member of Eagle Nation because I knew that Georgia Southern would open many new doors for me as both an individual and a leader. When I visited Georgia Southern for the first time, I immediately knew that it was the place for me! Georgia Southern pride radiated through the air as I walked through campus, and the opportunities both on campus and out in the community were unmatched by any other institution.
What is your favorite memory at Georgia Southern so far?
My favorite memory at Georgia Southern is definitely when a prospective student and his family invited me to go out to lunch with them during an Open House event that I volunteered at. I was talking them for almost an hour and they invited me to eat lunch with them. Long story short, the student ended up attending Georgia Southern University, being in the Small Group that I lead as a SOAR Leader, and being a student in the FYE 1220 Extended Orientation Section that I teach. The best part is that we are still friends today!
How has your extracurricular involvement helped you grow?
Through all of my experiences, I have learned so much about professional development and networking. All of the various leadership positions that I have taken on have pushed me to be myself in so many ways! I have grown as both an individual and a professional, and I ultimately learned exactly who I want to be when I graduate.
What do you consider to be your biggest accomplishment so far?
My biggest accomplishment so far during my undergraduate collegiate career here at Georgia is receiving the opportunity to complete an internship at the Coca Cola Company this upcoming summer.
What do you wish someone told you to expect when you started classes on campus?
I wish that someone would have told me how long the line would be during lunch time at Market Street Deli. I ate my lunch at Market Street very often during my first semester here at Georgia Southern, and I always waited a long time. That was until I found out I could order my lunch via phone order!
What is your most effective study method?
My most effective study method is to make my own study guide. I like to rewrite my notes using an outline format with headings. After I complete the outline, I just continue to look over it again and again until I feel that I 100% prepared for the exam. It works really well in most of my classes, but I sometimes use different methods depending on what the class is.
What advice do you have for incoming students?
The most important piece of advice that I would give incoming students is to take every challenge that you encounter here at Georgia Southern and make it a learning experience. Do not be afraid to make mistakes because college is all about finding your niche.
Where do you see yourself ten years from now?
I have learned that long-term goals are best achieved when I break them into shorter goals. My short-term goal is to find a full-time position after graduation that will put me in a forward-moving company with solid performance and future projections. As part of a team, I want to add value and continue to grow as a professional and as an individual. Ultimately, 10 years from now, I want to be in a position of responsibility where I can lead a team of individuals trying to achieve a common mission.
